Is there really a difference in trade show displays?
There are a lot of products that are pretty much the same no matter what you buy. They look and perform about the same and brand, product features and the print type doesn’t always make a lot of difference. Trade show displays and banner stands are an entirely different matter.
A low price is not always what is seems.
To keep the price of a banner stand low, many companies will sell the stand without a graphic. When you add the graphic, that low cost stand is suddenly a lot more expensive.
Another trick is to print graphics on budget vinyl. Particularly in a banner stand, vinyl will curl on the edges and its texture detracts from the look of your display. If you see a banner stand printed on vinyl, be very careful when making a buying decision.
We print on several high quality media designed for trade show and display use. All of our media resist curling and some include light blocking features. Even when you buy our lowest cost banner stands, we never use cheap banner vinyl.
Print resolution matters.
When you see a banner stand or trade show display advertised for a price that seems too good to be true, chances are that a corner was cut somewhere. Often, the graphic in your stand is printed at 360 or 600 dpi - a resolution that was common a decade ago but pales in comparison to today’s printing potential.
We print at 2,400 dpi - the highest resolution we know of. Make no mistake - a low res graphic translates to a low res impression.
Check the number of colors
The resolution of your graphic is only half the story. We print our display graphics with either 6 color printers (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black plus Light Cyan, and Light magenta inks) or eight color printers (we also add light gray and medium gray) inks. This makes a huge difference in the way that your photos and images appear. Shadows are subtle, skin tones look more natural and gradients are smoother. As a rule, the older the printer, the fewer colors it can print.
Red should not look like orange and blue should not look like purple.
One of the most important components in the print process is the RIP, or processor that drives the printer. It’s not uncommon for a printer to cut corners here as the RIP can be one of the most expensive parts of the printing process. A low end RIP may have trouble reading color and making sure that the output is accurate and consistent.
When we print your large format materials, colors look like they should. Our printers and Pantone Certified to help ensure that your logos and corporate colors reproduce as accurately as possible. We use an industry leading print processor to ensure the latest color standards are being met. After all, a pink soda can just doesn’t cut it!
